What inspired you to provide this green service? Back in the early 1980’s, we started to look into natural, non-toxic and odor-free cleaning solutions because the products that were readily available had all kinds of warning labels. Working with some of these products would cause headaches. The perfumes were so strong that we just thought over the long term, it would be better for our own health if we could find products that were safe to use anywhere.
What trends are you seeing in this area? More carpet cleaning companies are getting on the band wagon of using green products and there are more green products now available than there were in the industry 30 years ago when we started using them. The performance of these products has improved very much over time. Still, the government has not yet mandated that companies give full ingredient disclosure and manufacturers are concerned about listing ingredients that could reveal trade secrets. So you, the consumer, should ask questions about what is being used in your home and the company cleaning in your home or office should be able to provide information about what they are using in their cleaning process. The manufacturers that make these solutions spend a lot of money having their solutions tested or certified for health and safety and are happy to provide this information.
